History is a deeply personal thing. And despite the dusty tomes weighing down backpacks on first days of school, a deeply alive thing. It shifts and changes with its tellers, its audience, and through our curiosity.
8 Chapters is the conversation of life in a small prairie town, as had by someone who has grown up there and a newcomer figuring out the intricacies of this place and its people. This landscape-rooted dialogue materializes in 8 chapters; each an exploration of what collaboration between two artists of different crafts - and histories - can look like.
Granite Falls has a lot of history. As an entity of its own, in the scheme of the reported world, it is not a long history. But the stories that spill forth are alive and fresh to many; and as with all living things, continue evolving and marching onward.
Our stories shape the way we understand ourselves, our place in the world, and how we interact with our neighbors. Our stories shape our future together.
This discussion, brief as it is, only touches on aspects of this place’s history, relations, and future.
And it is after all only the perspective of two.
